Teeth Whitening in Turkey Get a Free Quote

White teeth have an important place in daily life in terms of hygiene, self-confidence and aesthetic appearance. However, in addition to physiological reasons; White teeth can become discoloured due to internal and external reasons such as smoking, antibiotic use, coffee and tea consumption. These discolorations on the teeth can be whitened with different teeth whitening methods performed in the office and at home. Teeth whitening achieved with due care and attention can be long-lasting. It is necessary to consult an expert about teeth whitening and apply personalized treatment methods.

Although some teeth have internal discolorations that occur due to congenital or acquired antibiotics, factors that cause external discoloration of teeth, such as daily consumed foods and beverages (tea, coffee, fruit juice, wine) or smoking, also overshadow the natural whiteness of our teeth.

“Achieving Ideal Teeth Whiteness is Actually Not Difficult”

Achieving ideal teeth whiteness is actually not difficult. Discolorations on your teeth can be removed by teeth whitening (bleaching) and you can have whiter teeth. Teeth whitening is quite different from the polishing process performed after scaling. In the teeth whitening process, the colour tone of the tooth itself can be lightened by 2-3 shades. Teeth whitening can be applied as office bleaching, which is applied by the physician in the office environment, or as home bleaching, which the patient can apply at home, with gels containing lower amounts of whitening agents, thanks to a transparent plate given to the patient with measurements taken from the patient. In addition, we describe it as over the counter, which is not under the control of a physician and patients can obtain it from pharmacies; There are products such as whitening toothpaste and mouthwash. However, the effect of these products is very low compared to the whitening process under the supervision of a physician. It would be a better choice to use it with the advice of a physician after whitening under the supervision of a physician.

So, what kind of procedure is teeth whitening?

Office Type Whitening (Bleaching)
Office whitening is the most effective method among all whitening systems. Since the peroxide rates of the whitening agents used in the whitening process performed during the examination are higher, the whitening is faster, and its permanence is longer. Before the teeth whitening process is applied; To get a more effective result, the patient must be cleaned before whitening. Before and after the sessions, photographs are taken from the patient and colour determination is made. The number of sessions to be applied is generally 2 or 3 and varies depending on the discoloration of the teeth. Since we do not want the gums to be damaged before the procedure, they are covered with a protective barrier and then whitening gel is applied to the teeth. Whitening gel is applied to the teeth in 2 or 3 periods of approximately 15 minutes. Between sessions, the patient is asked to stay away from colouring foods (tea, coffee, wine, etc.) and minimize smoking. Sensitivities may occur between whitening sessions, but; These sensitivities are eliminated with the desensitizing toothpastes to be used.

Home Type Whitening (Bleaching)
In the whitening system, which we call home type, the colour is determined and a transparent plaque suitable for the patient is produced, thanks to the measurement taken from the patient before the treatment. In home teeth whitening, whitening agents containing a lower percentage of "Carbamide Peroxide" are used. The tubes containing the prepared transparent plaque and whitening agent are given to the patient and the physician explains how to apply them to the teeth. The patient applies the medication twice a day for 2 weeks or only at night for 1-2 weeks, in accordance with the dentist's recommendations. How the treatment is going is monitored with weekly checks and necessary changes are made. The dentist and the patient must decide together which method of whitening will be applied to the patient.

What is the Success Rate in the Whitening Process?

Studies have shown that the satisfaction rate in patients is quite high, especially with regard to tea, coffee, smoking and age-related discoloration. However; Very good results cannot be achieved in cases of discoloration called "fluorosis" due to drugs or excessive fluoride.

How Long Does Teeth Whitening Last?

Although it varies depending on factors that vary from person to person, the whiteness of the teeth lasts between 3 months and 3-4 years. Although the lifespan of acquired whiteness is shorter in individuals who use tea, coffee and cigarettes a lot, in other individuals the lifespan of whiteness can be much longer. Regular check-ups every 6 months before the teeth return to their old colour again and repeating the whitening process every 6 months or a year, if necessary, ensures longer-lasting whiteness, shortens the duration of the second whitening and is also economically advantageous.
